Minus Concept Keeps Your Trash Cold And Odor-Free
May 29, 2009
Trash can technology really hasn’t evolved much over the years. I think the greatest advancement was when they put on a pedal that opened the lid when you stepped on it. I’ll admit, I love that about my trash can, but surely there are other areas in which we can improve this household item. I suppose there is that smell that comes from stinky garbage. But aside from air fresheners and actually taking out the smelly trash, how else can you combat the smell? Apparently the answer is extremely cold temperatures and an antibacterial UV light.
Cool CoinBank for your Change
May 28, 2009
Revol-Design’s Coin Bank is essentially “an attractive and unique replacement to the coin jar,” in which “coins are dropped into the top and bounce chaotically off clear spacers on the way down.”
The bank can be emptied once you unlock the padlock securing the bottom, and to make things even cooler there’s a series of clear acrylic spacers on the inside turning it into your own giant Plinko game.
Handmade LEGO Safe
November 19, 2008

Yes, this handmade LEGO safe has more than 305-billion combinations — takes five double digit codes to unlock it — and weighs 6.5kg. Though it may be safe, from a lock standpoint, throwing it may negate its effectiveness of thwarting thieves. Video after the break.
It even boasts an electronic status display showing the numbers as you turn the combination dials. When you enter the combination, the door electronically opens itself.
Awesome Snow Pod
November 18, 2008

At first glance, this may look like a space ship, but it’s actually a snow pod racer aka “Slegoon”. Its “roll cage, such as it is, protects the rider and doubles as extra runners should the sledding device flip over mid-run.”
I want to careen down snow covered slopes, and I want somebody beside me when I do it! Slegoon won the first prize in the UK IOM3 Design Contest, and are now in production.

Bang & Olufsen BeoSound 5
November 13, 2008
Bang & Olufsen has just announced that it will be rolling out its BeoSound 5 digital music system sometime in March next year, and as with most Bang & Olufsen systems, you can be sure that it will not come up short design-wise, while performance ought to be above average at the very least.
We like what we see so far, including the main interface which consists of the BeoSound 5 controller – a 2.65kg table-top or wall-mounted remote that has an outstanding 10.4″ 1,024 x 768 resolution LCD Display with an aluminium scroll wheel. The music server itself is the BeoControl 5, and it can hold up to 500GB worth of music while remaining connected to the Internet.
Cage of Death
November 11, 2008
A new attraction at Crocosaurus Cove, located in Australia, lets guests swim with crocodiles “using nothing but 4cm of acrylic plastic to keep them safe.”
As the croc gnashes its teeth against the cage, you piss your pants, the wife takes some pics, and we once again reaffirm why dolphins are actually the dominant species on the planet.
Gesture Control
November 11, 2008

Mgestk Technologies unveils a new gesture control system that “makes use of nothing more than an ‘affordable 3D camera’ and some custom software to capture even small hand gestures.” Video after the break.
What’s more, while Mgestyk already has a waiting list going, they aren’t making any promises about an actual release date just yet, or a price for that matter, with them only saying that it’ll be “in the range of a high-end webcam.”
